Daewoo Heavy Industries was the manufacturer of Caterpillar forklifts until the mid 90's, at which point Mitsubishi purchased Caterpillar and began manufacturing lift trucks for Caterpillar. When this happened, Daewoo began placing their logo on the trucks that were manufactured at their facility. Since then, Daewoo has invested millions of dollars on r&d to develop equipment with features that are unique to their equipment, namely the oil-cooled disc brake system. This brake system is a completely sealed unit that utilizes hydraulic oil to cool the inner discs of the brake system. As anyone who has ever had to pay for a brake repair knows, it can get very costly, especially for those companies who operate in a corrosive environment. Luckily, these brakes are warrantied for the life of the machine. As long as you own a Daewoo, you will never pay for a brake repair again. It's certainly not the cheapest truck available, and it may put your in-house maintenence department out of work, but the average savings in time and money usually make this choice an easy one to make.
